Midnight Herring Productions - What We Do

Midnight Herring Productions was founded in 2003 by Queen's University graduate Cassandra Ross. Cassandra has an Honours degree in Film Studies and a Minor degree in English. The company produces documentary films as well as offering services in post production and media design. As an editor, Cassandra's particular genre of choice is documentary, but she also has experience editing comedy, drama and music videos. Midnight Herring Productions has also produced videos intended as market research for corporate clients. Whether your project is big or small, personal or corporate, we offer professional, creative editing services under deadline and at reasonable rates.

In addition to our portfolio in post production, Midnight Herring also offers services in web site and media design. We specialize in creating functional, unique and attractive web presences for the small business or creative entrepreneur. Having a great online face is vitally important - even if you have a budget. With flexible payment plans we can offer as much or as little assistance as needed. All of our web sites are unique and tailored for our individual clients.

We also offer media design services in logo creation, advertising, and creative copy writing. We have experience producing everything from business cards, to store catalogues, to published articles. We are ready to help you realize every aspect of your business or personal web site. The internet is a big place but we can help you stand out and make a fantastic first impression.

If you are interested in discussing your project, we welcome all inquiries. We understand that small businesses and emerging filmmakers need individual consideration; therefore we are always happy to consider your specific situation before we agree on a price.

Our rates are $25 / hr for video editing or web page work. Phone or e-mail to discuss your project. We are located in Toronto, Ontario Canada but we have experience working with international clients.

Post Production Services

Editing is the process of discovering the exact combination of emphasis, pacing, and visuals to give the perfect impact. At the Midnight Herring office Cassandra edits most projects on the Macintosh based Final Cut Express HD post production studio. This program offers powerful editing tools for professional results. We can also produce MiniDV, VHS or DVD copies of your work. At Midnight Herring Productions we stress creative collaboration to help emerging film makers realize their visions, as well as professional finished products at reasonable rates.

Media Design Services

When it comes to Media Design, we believe simplicity and function are key. The focus of web page design should not be on unnecessary graphical elements that sacrifice easy navigation or user understanding. No matter whom your intended audience, a site should help the user and make them feel welcome. If you are a business, you want customers to know who you are, what you have to offer, and how to conduct business with you. For a personal site, you want to help users clearly understand your ideas and interests.

At Midnight Herring we use the sophisticated web design program Macromedia Studio 8. This state-of-the-art suite includes the complete versions of Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash. We use the programs on top of basic html and javascript programming to give a visually interesting face to a solid design. We make pages that are creative, dynamic, colourful, and most importantly functional. Please explore our growing portfolio in media design (links will open in a new window).
