So you're interested in documentary, eh? Documentaries has been around since the invention of the motion film camera, yet have always occupied the marginal corners of filmic expression. Fictional film is king. Nothing puts more butts in the seats than a Hollywood blockbuster; with huge budgets, star power, advertising, and market research, feature films should be more popular.
Recently, however, an interest in documentary film has been growing and opening the wallets of producers, distributors and the theatre going public. The option to see a first run documentary at a large commercial cinema is finally a reality. Mainstream video store chains offer documentaries for rental (although many do not have a documentary section, but rather shove them in along with the "independent" or "special interest" categories). All in all, it's a good time to be a documentary film maker and fan. From the cineplex to YouTube, we are beginning to have a greater understanding and appreciation for the wide range of films we call documentary. This part of my site is a growing resource devoted to documentary. As with any web site, it will always be a work in progress. I hope you find something useful, or at least encouraging, amongst my ramblings. I'm not sure why I want to make a site about documentary, except it's something that I think is exciting, and interesting, and I enjoy writing about. Greater enterprises have been undertaken for less reason... so enjoy!

Documentary Reviews
Below you will find the list of documentary films I've reviewed. Mmmm, dig that beta quality table. Eventually, as in some time in the future when I'm really bored, I'll try to make this list dynamic so you can search for title or rating. Until that magical day, I'll at least keep writing the reviews and posting them here (in good old fashioned alphabetical order). If you've seen one of these films and would like to share an opinion, please feel free to post in the comments section.
I also write reviews for the indie Canadian film site FilmCAN. I would recommend this site not only for their obvious dedication to high quality writing, but also for their exclusive interviews, podcasts, downloads and articles. Bookmark it. Bookmark it now!
